By creating new experiences and crossing cultural boundaries within our  local communities, Birmingham Hippodrome’s education team continues to offer highly innovative projects to a wide range of participants.

We offer backstage tours and a wide range of workshops for both primary and secondary schools, as well as local colleges and community groups.

To complement our main house programme, we deliver a range of related workshops, open rehearsals pre- and post-show talks enabling young people access to unique creative opportunities delivered by professional artists and stars of our shows.

We can support schools to create an enhanced understanding of curricula subjects by creating innovative non-show related workshops and projects based on the workings of an active and busy theatre. These include science, environmental studies, and history discovery days in addition to numeracy, literacy and music. We also offer technical theatre days, careers days and can help design workshops for BTEC Performing Arts modules.

We are always happy to work with teachers to develop bespoke workshops, designed individually for your school.

Teachers! Feel the need for inspiration? ...a little isolated? ...at the end of your creative tether?
 
We offer regular networking events for teachers to meet local colleagues, catch up on what is happening in other schools and pool ideas in an informal and open forum, with a creative input from Birmingham Hippodrome’s Education Department and a variety of arts practitioners.

The sessions run late afternoon on weekdays and are open to teachers from primary, secondary and special schools.  You will also be given the opportunity to stay and watch that evening’s production at a discounted price whenever possible
